Lecce is the capital of Salento, a small but charming city of art and heart of economic, historical, artistic, cultural Salento, characterized by a charming old town of considerable interest, but also from many countries that succeed in the area and enchant you with their beauty.
From the artistic point of view, the treasure that Salento is the Baroque, amazing as always, brings out the beauty of Lecce, the "heart" of Salento.
Lecce, which until the late sixteenth century was only a small fortified city gathered around the severe amount of the Castle of Charles V, met therefore a period of intense development. It was by the religious authorities, starting with Bishop Luigi Pappacoda, who was a strong impetus to the construction of buildings and monuments, over almost two hundred years, shape the image of the city.
The new style, at first, only interested in the sacred buildings and noblemen, but later the Baroque exuberance, floral motifs, shapes, animals, mythological friezes and coats also triumphed private architecture, the facades on balconies and doorways of buildings.
The most important works of the Baroque Lecce are the Basilica of Santa Croce (1548-1646) and the nearby Government House, the seventeenth century, the spectacular Piazza del Duomo overlooked by the Dome (1659 - 1670) and Seminary (1694 - 1709), in whose courtyard is a well preserved by the rich sculptural decoration, made by Giuseppe Cino and the churches of St. Irene, St. Clare, St. Matthew, of Mount Caramel and St. John the Baptist.
Lecce is art, history, and tradition, but is also lively, fun, light-heartedness and hospitality, with its people ready to help visitors discover the beauty of places and peculiarities of the place.

The elegant drawing room of Lecce is Sant'Oronzo Square, in honor of the patron saint of the city, which stands on the column in the square, built in the late seventeenth century by Giuseppe Lecce Zimbalo. Moreover, the central square is the seat, the old town hall, now used as a location for art shows and exhibitions.
Alvino Suite & Breakfast in the heart of this great artistic beauty ... the center of the square, opposite the Roman Amphitheatre, which it remains the arena, the stands and lower part of the exterior walls. It was built in the second century AD, during the Augustan age and measured about 102 m × 83 I could hold over 25,000 spectators.
The digging will play almost immediately, thanks to the will of the archaeologist Salento Cosimo De Giorgi. Currently you can see only one third of the entire structure, as the rest remains hidden underground street where Sant'Oronzo rise buildings and the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
